Moto Guzzi
The Museum is located in Mandello del Lario, Lake Como, in the heart of the historic factory that has seen the birth of the legend of Moto Guzzi in 1921.
Museum Moto Guzzi historical, technical and cultural, collects a rich collection of more than 150 exhibition pieces including production bikes, sport bikes, prototypes and experimental engines, which alternate in a reflecting temporal path of the glorious history of a timeless Italian myth and world.
In the museum they are exhibited unique pieces like the first motorcycle built by Carlo Guzzi in 1919, the only signed G.P. (Guzzi-Parodi), alongside examples of the most celebrated in the world as the extraordinary Eight Cylinders 500 of 1957, created by the genius of Giulio Cesare Carcano.
The exhibition area reserved for standard bikes consists of a collection of more than 80 vehicles, along with the story of the productive history of Mandello Eagle, offer an insight into the social and economic evolution of our country. And ‘the case of the legendary Norge of 1928, the first big tourism the history of motorcycling, designed by Carlo Guzzi and his brother Joseph, the Guzzi Sport and GT series of the thirties, the Heron, the motion of most popular medium capacity in Italy from 1939 to 1957, or the Falcon, the dream of all riders of the fifties.
But Moto Guzzi made history even for vehicles that have characterized the mobility of Italians after the war, such as Motoleggera 65 “Guzzino” and the Cockerel, or “reinventing” the sport concept in the late sixties as the V7 Sport with the V-twin engine of 90 °.
Alongside the standard motorcycle, it unravels the exhibition dedicated to racing motorcycles that, with their businesses, have written the pages of the sports myth of Mandello del Lario. Among these, the Guzzi 4V of 1924, the bike with which Guido Mentasti won the first European title at Monza; the Bicilindrica 500 of 1946 of Omobono Tenni; Guzzi 350 “World Champion” in 1955; and, to come in more recent times, the V7 Record, the bike derived from V7 series, which established 19 speed records in June and October 1969 at the Monza circuit.
